Braeside Park’s head trainer Mark Ganderton has certainly not wasted anytime in hitting the winners circle since returning to training in early April.
Ganderton has had no fewer than 10 runners back at the track with the imposing and impressive record of five winners with a further two placings.
First starter Far Away Hit commenced the winning trend by taking out the 2YO Handicap (TAS Bonus) in Hobart on April 18.
The daughter of Needs Further certainly looks like a filly with a very bright future as she was green in running and jockey Daniel Ganderton was on one reign for most of the straight.
Far Away Hit was spelled following this run and Mark will now set her for the $100,000 3YO Cup at Launceston on December 1 over 1200m.
Following this, the ever-consistent Ancona scored at his fist up run from a spell at Devonport on May 30 in the Class One 1150m event.
Ancona had not raced since September of last year and proved far too strong for his rivals.
Ancona is owned by two of Ganderton’s most loyal and longtime clients in Launceston businessman Bruno Calabro and John McKenna.
It was certainly a day out for Ganderton on June 27 when the trainer took three horses to Devonport and yes, all three saluted in fantastic style.
The ultra-impressive Alpine Wolf took out the 2YO Maiden over 1000m in devasting fashion and more importantly was the first winner for Armidale Stud’s resident stallion in Alpine Eagle.
Sirene Stryker was leg number two for the stable where the ultra-consistent mare gave nothing else a chance wining the BM66 1175m in a hand canter.
Unfortunately, Sirene Stryker had to have surgery following this race, but Ganderton is quite sure she will make a full recovery and be back in the winner’s circle very soon.
Completing the treble was Ancona, making it three wins from five starts and giving Ganderton a royal day out at the races.
Ganderton is hopeful Ancona may become a Devonport Cup horse for the future as the son of West Quest just keeps improving at every outing.
We look forward to many more runners over the coming weeks, Happy Punting and thank you to all our loyal clients for their continued support!
